Organic Interbeing: Inspired by bell hooks’ Quote “interbeing and interdependency as the organic relationship of all living things”
Ink on paper

When I first read bell hook’s writing, her words slipped past my fingers as the pages turned, her words seeped into me.
Eleven words in hooks’ book “The Will to Change” reminded me that humans constantly reimagine and come back to what we have, in one form or another, always known. Reflecting on hooks’ and my own experience, I wonder if one of our most human traits is our precious balance between dependence and independence. At the balancing point is interdependence: personal accountability melded with trust in others. hooks writes of,
“interbeing and interdependency as the organic relationship of all living beings.”
